Public Health Nursing
What is Public Health Nursing?
Our Public Health Nurses (PHNs) work with communities and the systems that affect the health of those communities. Public Health Nursing address the Social Determinants of Health with the goal of health equity.
Public Health Nurses provide services at the individual, community and systems levels such as infectious disease investigation and case management, health education and disease prevention, patient advocacy, social marketing and policy development.
Our Regional Public Health Nurses provide immunizations to prevent childhood disease, seasonal and emerging vaccine preventable diseases. Our PHNs collaborate with social agencies and emergency management to ensure our residents have access to essential public health services.
